Post Cabinet lights power source?

Hi,

I am still demolishing my kitchen, but my wife and I have the design done and ready to go down to Ikea store and talk to their design consultants.

One quick question: if I order and install the cabinet lights (probably just for 2 cabinets: either inside or under the cabinets), can I simply plug them into my existing electrical outlets (there are 4 outlets and 2 plugs each; they will be shared with hood, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, and refrig), or doI need to plan tobreak my wall and pull more wires in? I really hate to do that.

I currently do not plan to break any walls, just repaint and install the cabinets, sink and applicances.

Thanks

fh

I'm no electrician, but I know that certain appliances, such as your dishwasher and your microwave (usually) require dedicated circuits -- that is, no other outlets or appliances are on the same circuit. Beyond that, yeah, you just plug them into regular outlets.

Welcome to the forums!

Given the low power requirements and HIGH bulk of the transformers, you might want to plan to install a couple of power strips in unobtrusive areas inside cabinets? The thansformers take up a LOT of room. I know there was one poster a few months ago that just found a low voltage power supply for outdoor lighting that matched the correct voltage and wired all his lights to that rather than using individual transformers for each light...
