Can't get through by phone: suggestions? Need Stoughton After Sales # PLEASE!
Hi,
I have been leaving messages on the answering machine at the Kitchen home shopping IKEA number for almost a week - they ask you to leave a name and phone number and they will call back - and they haven't called back.
Is there a way to find out if specific items are in stock at the store? I called about some items on my back order for my MB Adel kitchen and the person who I spoke to in the Stoughton MA store was singlularly unhelpful...
You may have already tried this, but the IKEA site does offer the ability to check if something is in stock. See the "buy at your local store" box on the right? It has a "check stock" button. If you can pull up the items you are looking for (and sometimes these are only shown as combinations, so be patient/creative/zen) the site will tell you if they are in stock. Be aware that this is not infallable, and some say that IKEA is conservative about calling something out of stock, when indeed, those who search the self serve bins do find their grail, or rail, or plinth.
Alternatively, if you can share your chosen store locale, one of the delightful FANS may have a direct dial number for your department and "hook you up" so to speak.
Have you the number for the After Sales person in Kitchens at Stoughton? Or are you just calling the store and transferring to the Kitchen department? Most stores have an After Sales person who handles, well...after sales problems, questions, and issues. Sometimes also called a Kitchen Expeditor. If you don't have that number, perhaps someone here may. If you'd like, I can edit your title to help flag folks who may have that info.
Someday soon we'll have a section in the site that will function like an address book with contact info for all stores. Won't that be the day!
Sorry I couldn't be more help - let me know if you want to edit the title.
Susan

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. We are about 80% done with a kitche installation and need a couple of weird things. We got a white door for one cabinet instead of the MB, we need the clips to fasten the drawer rails for our PO cabinets (why don't those seem included?) and we have a couple of things that are on back order like the 36*96 inch cover panels, of which we need 6 or so. When I try to look at availability in the Stoughton store for pretty much any item, I get a 404. Yes, the number for the kitchen expeditor in the Stoughton store would be wonderful. Please, pretty please, someone out there?

Re: Can't get through by phone: suggestions? Need Stoughton After Sales # PLEASE!
i know this won't help this poster as it was a year ago, but perhaps a future visitor...
we were looking for a piece from the varde line for the kitchen. it was on the web as currently in stock for a long time; and then when we finally were at the point to get the piece, it said not in stock.
the store is a 3 hour drive, and we didn't want to go on a lark. my husband called for half the day. on the last call, he waited over 25 minutes, but finally got a human and explained the query.
the item was in fact in stock, showing five of the item. he told the woman that the website said out of stock. she told him that they put out of stock when the item gets to a number of less than ten, so that a customer wouldn't come a long way on a day that someone came in and bought a bunch of that item. kind of a safety gauge for the consumers.
so we drove the 3 hours and got my items. i'm glad we phoned to check, since 3 hours and 1300 dollars later, i wouldn't have been happy on the wasted trip.

Hiya!
To the OP: I used the Stoughton store, and found after sales to be very helpful, or at least very comforting. I'm surprised you are not getting through to them. I posted the number I had on the store directory listing. Is that the same number you used? I will go through my materials and see if I have a name or number for you in addition.
Who was your salesperson? I would suggest you go back in, and talk to Nicholas (the kitchens manager) or Ivy (a VERY cool associate who knows EVERYTHING.) They might be able to help you.
Stoughton basically serves all of northern New England. Everyone from New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts goes there. It gets very busy, and I think they get overwhelmed. It's no excuse for not calling back, but they do get so busy that I think they lose track. Please do not give up! For every unhelpful person you find, there are three to five gems in the store.
