no, the light is actually integrated into the unit, and the whole panel lights up. The panel is made of translucent plastic, and the lights are in between the two pieces of plastic.
It's from IKEA. I saw it in the Tempe IKEA in the lighting area where they have the LED lights. It was installed in a cabinet. I forget the name though, so I guess I'll have to go back and look! I'll try to take a pic too.
so the bottom panel is translucent and lights up both the inside and underneath? I didn't see it in the store a couple of nights ago, then again i think we're behind the curve here. when i asked about new cabinets for april, the kitchen associate gave me a blank look. I'd love to see a picture of the the cabinet light if you have one!
websmurf...not all associates have access to the information about new door styles. I've gotten blank looks too, and have aggravated co-workers by asking to see things they didn't know they had. Maybe you should tell the IKEAn about the Fansite!

Do you have any pictures of the TJUGOFYRA lights up and running? I'd like to see what kind of light they put out. Would you have to use a few bunched together to get a decent amount of light?
Depends on the ambient. At night... in the dark thay add a nice accent light with a slight bluish cast to it. During the day or with bright ambient they're fairly dim, you'd need to have several in place if you want it brightly lit. But they're so small and use so little power, having several isn't a big deal.
They are a bit dimmer now that they're installed, than when I had all 4 laying out on the table in the living room.

I tried out the TRETTIOEN strip LED lights. They are BRIGHT!! Not in the light they give off, but in the glow from the fixture itself. It would be fine behind a light rail but you don't want to put these things where you will see the strips at all. The light is a cool, flourescent type light, and it doesn't throw very far, but even the reflection of the strips in the granite countertop was too glaring.
The cool thing is that they are so lightweight you can just use regular scotch tape to place them, so we played with them quite a bit last night. Still haven't determined the best placement, although the coolest was definitely in the little channel under the granite countertop, between the overhang and the substrate. It glowed with this eerie light, and you have no clue how it was lit!
::head spinning ever so slightly:: Lights? Oh goodness...I have to think about lighting....::sigh:: Lighting is the reasion I have to learn about plugmolds, right?
Are the LED lights good for undercabinet task lighting, or are they better suited for display type areas?
The LED lights (strip lights, the others are flat pucks) if you have enough of them would give good undercounter light. They are not dim. The only thing that would bother me was the reflection in a shiny countertop. We have AB granite and they nearly blinded me!
