fitting an akurum pantry cabinet with a bowed wall

Hello
we have a portion of our kitchen where the refrigerator is located that is 60 in wide and about 24 in deep. In trying to install a 24 inch pantry and a 30 in over refrig cabinet in the space we realized that both side walls bow out a bit. The rear of the opening is really 60in (and both cabinets fit perfectly) but at the front its more like 59 and 1/4 in. Does anyone know of any options to fix this other than tearing the sheetrock off the sides and straightening the walls out? I thought about cutting down the pantry about 3/4 but worried the drawers and doors wont fit right.

thanks for any ideas!

Re: fitting an akurum pantry cabinet with a bowed wall

It sounds like the walls are not square (corners less than 90 degrees). You say the measurements are 60" but your pantry is 24" and the frig is 30". That is only 54". Is this correct?

If you really have 60" of cabinetry to go in a 60" (or 59 1/4" space), it's not going to work. I specify 61 1/4" since I want to put cover panels on both sides. This allows the doors to open properly.

Rather than tear the walls down, I would go with a 15" pantry (assuming a 36" frig cab) or a 30" frig cab (24" pantry) and put in a filler.

my bad - the fridge cabinet is 36in making the width 60. My wife didn't like the smaller pantry :-(

my only thought is to pull the sheetrock off and straighten the studs then re-sheetrock but what a pain!

If you strip the sheetrock, you can gain an 1" or maybe a 1 1/4". If you pull the cabinets slightly proud of the corners, you can open the doors. You can finish the cotners with a thin peice of wood perhaps. Try that before rebuilding the walls.
