Will tall faucet break porcealin sink? (domsjo double)

I'm thinking about putting the Hjuvik or Kraus professional rinse faucet onto the double domsjo, but am worried that such a tall faucet may be too much stress for the porcealin. My concern is that since the porcealin near the sink hole is only 1/2" thick and the faucet is ~30" tall, with a pull sprayer, that this may be too much stress. What do you think, should I worry or is the sink strong enough?

Welcome to IKEAFANS, sam.

Either of those faucets will work. Your choice should be limited only by your own need, taste, etc.

Thanks Chuck. I should not worry about stressing the sink?

You're stressing over this more than you'll stress the sink.

Re: Will tall faucet break porcealin sink? (domsjo double)

Hi, we just installed double domsjo sink last week with the elverdam faucet at 16 inches or so in height. One thing I noticed as I was using it was that it seemed that when I used the pull down, it pulled a bit more on the faucet than I was comfortable with. My husband removed the weight on the end so now it does not retract on its own, but also doesn't seem to put stress on the faucet. With the weight installed it would actually move the faucet a bit and I was concerned about cracking. I am not sure whether a taller faucet would be a problem, but wanted to let you know my experience. I like the faucet so much due to its styling and steel pull out I didn't want to change it out. I also am enjoying pulling it down and letting it fill a pot without holding it. We thought about tightening up the faucet more, but my husband didn't want to risk that. Just some food for thought.

Thanks for letting me know! After poring over way too many faucets, we decided to go the old fashion route.

....

This means living without a sprayer, but the bronze/fireclay look really grew on us and no more 'stress'

Re: Will tall faucet break porcealin sink? (domsjo double)

I love, love that faucet! I hadn't seen that in my search. It is a really classic look. However, I think you could miss the pull down. The spout will not quite hit the drain when the water is coming out in terms of reach which is how mine is, ok. I would really, really miss the pull down even though I like your choice. I use it to spray out and clean the sink, flush things down disposer, clean vegetables, clean pots and pans and such. The faucet is high so things sitting on the bottom of the sink are difficult to reach without it. After using this sink I would need a pull down. However, I am a avid cook and depending on your needs, this may work out for your family. Good luck!

Re: Will tall faucet break porcealin sink? (domsjo double)

Thanks for the advice again! They do have versions with a side sprayer and can be bought seperately. I didn't want to have to make another hole, but how you desribe the utility is very compelling.

Thinking of having the sprayer on the wall, with the line also coming out of the wall in one of those fork type cradles similar to the old wooden payphones. (our backsplash isn't up yet & we'll have to remove the wall covering behind the sink to ge the old tiles off anyway so you're really making me think!)
