| Ikea faucet (Bagvik) backflow preventer problem?
Hi,
I recently installed a Bagvik kitchen faucet, and am having a problem. In the water inlet connections, there is a blue plastic insert, which I am pretty certain is a backflow preventer. My install is in a lake house, which uses well water. It is fairly clean, passing through a 20 micron and then a 5 micron filter, but it isn't city water. The cold water input has plugged twice now, and the annoying solution is to unhook the cold water inlet, unscrew the inlet (copper) tube, and using a punch, force the plastic thing open while running water through it backwards to flush it and replace it. Question: Am I going to do something terrible to the faucet if I just take a drill bit and drill the thing out of the line?
