Wine rack question

I'm nothing but questions today! My next question is about the Perfekt wine racks, 39 X 9 inches, the upper units. I have two next to each other in my plan, since I need to fill an 18 inch space. Does anyone have a brilliant idea about supporting these two racks? I can screw each one in from one side, but since they'll be touching each other, I can't screw them in from the other side. I'm considering just setting a couple of brackets underneath them, but perhaps there's a more elegant idea...

Re: Wine rack question

Hello! I'm pretty sure they need to be sandwiched between two regular cabs--though there ought to be a way of reproducing the side/back hanging mechanism of the regular cabs.

But why are you using them to "fill" an 18" space when there are perfectly nice 18" cabs to do the same job? They even come with glass doors if you want .

Re: Wine rack question

If you are placing the wine racks on the wall - they are designed to be supported by the suspension rail - but the rail needs to be lower than the regular height (I believe it is 1/2" but double check the mounting bracket).

If they are on the floor you need to add the AKURUM legs to the racks.

They can of course be attached side to side just like regular cabinets.

Re: Wine rack question

These aren't the big wine racks that hold four bottles across and multiple rows down; they're the 9-inch Perfekt shelving units that hold just six bottles of wine plus other various cubbies and drawers. There's nothing in the instructions about attaching them to the mounting rail and no brackets included in the packet. The pictures in the instructions do show them being attached to the end of a run of cabinets; I guess if you use all the enclosed screws, they're reasonable secure.

I'm using the Perfekt units because when I bought my Backebo doors, they were already out of the 18X39 inch doors. I could have gotten a glass one, I suppose, but this space is close to the range, and the thought of cleaning grease off of a glass door didn't thrill me.

We have sort of a country-style kitchen, so I suppose I can just put some extra molding underneath the units and use that to prevent shearing away from the screws.
