IKEA Atlanta closed?
Does anyone know why IKEA Atlanta has been closed for two days? I called at 6:30 last night to check availability on some cover panels that were not in stock on Monday and got a message saying they would reopen tomorrow.
This morning the line rang slow busy. (Slow busy is the busy you hear when a line is in use, as opposed to fast busy which indicates a line error.) Now I get the message that IKEA is closed, but no indication on when they will reopen.
This is most strange. I am halfway through a kitchen install, with 6 more cabinets and a host of cover panels and trim left to order. Surely they aren't closing forever!!!
That is odd -- I was there Wednesday evening for several hours, and my husband was there yesterday to exchange something for me (earlier in the day). I did not see any "notice" posted anywhere that they were closing for anything upcoming. There is a lot of stuff going on at Atlantic Station this weekend though (or in the area)... Taste of Atlanta for one thing.

Oh, I know they aren't really closing forever. It was a momentary loss of my mind. I was just there Monday.
I do hope the norseman by the entrance to the Cafe didn't go Berserker and wreck the whole place though. ;-) You should have seen him, with his horn cup and his battle ax. I definitely bussed my own table that night!
I guess I've never noticed the norseman. Glad you have calmed now though. I still have trim pieces to buy too - but probably 90% done with my remodel thank god. we have slowed down a lot in the last month.

Yeah, Monday night this guy had a full Norse costume (fairly authentic too, no horned helmets or anything) and a table at the top of the escalator onto the top level. On the table was a bow, a battle axe, a mace, some jewelry and personal items etc. Not sure what was going on with him, but while we were dining, we did watch him stroll into the cafe with a giant horn goblet, walk right over to the soda fountain and get a chalice of lingonberry juice, spiked with a hit of mountain dew.
Which is exactly what I drink! So then I said the stupidest thing to the wife. "See, I'm not weird for drinking this, the viking warrior does too!"
While I am not familiar with the members, the Kingdom of Meridies which is in the Southeast, does seem to have members whose Society names sound Norse.

Maybe it was SCA. He must be fairly new. I haven't had much to do with them for a few years now, but I thought I knew all the movers and shakers in the Atlanta area of the Fifth Kingdom, but I guess not anymore.
But if IKEA allows such things, I have one more reason to like IKEA!!!

OMG - you are/were an SCA person, too?! We were involved with Oldenfeld in Trimaris when they first got started but dropped out a long time ago. I'll need to contact the people there when we start moving since I know we have some things they'd be interested in (old newsletters, photos, reference materials) and that we have no need for any longer. But the last time I tried to contact them, they did not get back to me.

We were involved with Oldenfeld in Trimaris when they first got started but dropped out a long time ago. I'll need to contact the people there when we start moving since I know we have some things they'd be interested in (old newsletters, photos, reference materials) and that we have no need for any longer. But the last time I tried to contact them, they did not get back to me.
