I'm absolutely new here.
I have an old poang chair and it's missing a screw. It's in otherwise perfect condition and it would be a waste to have to get rid of it. What's the best way of getting the replacement?
Hi aliwanis and welcome! I'm a Brooklyn native myself but now I'm out west.
You can get spare parts from the customer service desk at IKEA. Bring the actual part if you've got it and need more, and the part numbers. If you don't have any luck there (which would be unusual, they're pretty helpful) perhaps you could post a pic of the piece you need and someone here might have a spare.
I'm carless in Brooklyn, and while it's not impossible to get to Ikea without a car, I think it'll be a bit much to get there all for a screw. Do you know if Ikea would perhaps send one via mail?

Hi there! Are you the same Poang chair owner who sent a message via the Contact Us link last week? If so, I replied to your email within 10 minutes of letting you know that I had the screws you needed and I can send them to you as soon as I get your address. In fact, I've had them in my purse since last Thursday morning in an envelope waiting for your mailing info!
Just let me know where to send them and I'll get them out.

Hi Susan, I'm not the same person. I just posted about the missing screw just yesterday. I'd be happy to provide an address if you've got the right screw... it connects the cross bar at the base to the two bent wood legs.
I'm a bit confused, are there ppl in this forum who actually work for ikea or just consumers and fans?
We're not affiliated with IKEA in any way - just a bunch of IKEA nuts! Though some of the IKEA nuts are also IKEA co-workers, we're mostly just fans and customers.
If you'll send me your mailing address via PM (don't post it here!) - click on my name, then Send a Private Message, I'll get the screw out to you ASAP. I'll have to look up which one it is, but I doubt it will be one I don't have - I have about 50# of hardware!

Ok - just to clarify....the part # 100514 is the barrel nut that connects the screw inside the chair - can you measure that part? There's lots of them to choose from and I don't want to get it wrong! Actually, if you can measure both parts that would be useful - I have 4 sizes of the screw and though I can probably figure out that you need one of the 2 larger sizes, it would be nice to be able to put an exact part number to that screw.

No prob... pics before and after the project is complete. It's a simple procedure and I'm sure you know the outcome, but it's the least I can do at the moment. Will keep you posted on receipt of the hardware.
