I have a set of 5 Trettio under cabinet lights which I bought and installed about a year ago. The transformer recently failed and when I went to the store I found they have been discontinued. When I enquired online I was told that it was impossible to obtain a replacement transformer.
Surely there must be a way, the lights are fine, it seems silly (and enviromentally unfriendly!) to have to throw them away and replace them with new ones which look the same but have different connections! I am not confident that I would be in the same situation at some point in the future!
Perhaps I could obtain an 'aftermarket' transformer but I'm not the most electrically/electronically minded so have no idea where to start. Can anyone help?

Did you ask whether they had any returns? I found a cord and transformer there.

Also, are you sure it's the transformer? How do you turn the lights on/off, via the switch? I had a cord with a faulty switch (the one from the return area). I opened it up and looked at the switch's innards, and it was a simple mechanical problem. Put everything back together and it works great.

They discontinued ages ago and have no stock left! Well not at my store. I had a long chat via the online help and once they understood my problem (not that hard is it?) they said they would pass it on to an electrical specialist who would call me within 12 working hours. I'll see if they can help.

Yes, I had been using the switch but I checked that and it is fine, there was electricity supplied all the way down to the transformer.

I have also e mailed a company that supplies transformers with the details to see if they have a suitable replacement. I'll update here when/if they reply.

As long as the output DC voltage (must match, though my guess is that it's 12V) and amperage (same or a little bit more, but not too much, nor less), any AC/DC adapter could be made to work.

You do need to know how to solder and which wire is + and which is -, however, as you'll be cutting and splicing the old connector onto the replacement AC/DC adapter. The resulting splice should be heat shrink wrapped.
