Termosfar Light - problem with transformer

Hello everybody,

I am new in this forum, and as you thought I have a problem.

I bought Termosfar Light (in Ikea Graz, Austria), mount on the wall, but ... nothing happened. So I checked output voltage. Output voltage is 2,9V instead 11,5V.

I checked everywhere but no switch or similar things.

Can somebody help me? I will appreciate any suggestion.

Thanks, Ivica, Croatia

Re: Termosfar Light - problem with transformer

Welcome.

Sounds like something is dead in the transformer - it's dropping 80:1 instead of 20:1.

Call and see if they will just send you a new one instead ... that'll save you the major hassle of having to cross countries just to exchange it.

Re: Termosfar Light - problem with transformer

You definitely have a short in the transformer. If you are going to Graz soon, just exchange it. If IKEA is willing to ship the replacement to you, make sure they write zero value (sample, replacement or something similar) so you don't have to deal with the customs. Or check the Croatian customs law, so they do not charge you too much.

Another option would be to just get a 150W (a little extra power) 220V/12V transformer locally. It would probably be the same quality as the original.

Re: Termosfar Light - problem with transformer

Hello everybody,
I figured out problem with Termosfar. We put two lights nothing happened, but when we put third - light comes out. So, it does not matter how voltage is on transformer but with minimum three lights everything is OK.
Also thanks to Ikea Graz for contact me (even on my native language).
Hear you soon.
