I have a brand new Norden table, but I am a very sad girl.
We had some friends over to help assemble things today, and everything was going so quickly. Too quickly. I'm the kind of person who likes to take assembly slow and think carefully about every step. *sigh* Anyway. The table was put together upside down on the bare floor. As you can imagine, it has several digs in the surface now. I'm so sad! Is there anything I can do to make it better?
I'm thinking maybe I can sand the surface and recoat it with something?
I haven't actually tried this myself, but my understanding is that using a damp towel and an iron can fix some dents/depressions (the steam swells the crushed wood fibers and brings them back up closer to the level of the rest of the surface), esp in softwoods, can't remember if the Norden is pine or not...
Any chance you could post pictures of the damages? There are a couple things I could think of, but it would depend on the depth and placement of the damage.

Wow! I'm not sure that'll work, but I could give it a try.
Narf is right, the Norden is birch, and has a thin polyurethane coating.
One of the nicks is a five inch long jagged groove that's fairly deep. Looks like there was a small grain of kitty litter on the floor there. :/ I'm thinking maybe I should sand the entire surface and put my own polyurethane coat on. Hopefully that will be more thick and durable to fend off future damage.
