I'm sure many of you have gone to Ikea, purchased way more than you went for. And then months or years later you continue to come across brand new items tucked away in some corner of your house.
I recently had such an experience, but one of the items I came across I have no idea what it is or why I bought it. I mean it looks cool and useful, but I can't for the life of me figure out what its real purpose is.
So here's a picture of it. Clicking on the image will take you to a gallery with larger images and another shot with some other pieces that came with it.
I only posted a top view. I suppose I just thought someone would see it and know immediately. I'll try to post some shots from different angles, and with other items for reference of scale, tomorrow.
It's approximate dimensions are. 22"w x 13"d x 8"h (back) 5"h (front)
My first guess was some sort of printer shelf but the dimensions seem to limiting for it to be universal.
Anyway, thanks for looking, hopefully I can figure out what it is, or at least something to do with it.
Those would be some weird plates, huh? When did you buy it? What else do you remember buying at the same time? Does it have holes for affixing to something?
Is it some kind of organizer? It's hard to tell from the angle but like this?

It's very similar to your image. However it doesn't mount to any sort of rails. It has small metal tabs that wrap around the wire frame and then have little holes through them for the screws.
We purchased this about 3 years ago. We were there to pickup children's furniture and a new vanity for our bathroom. My sister was with us picking up office furniture, but she doesn't remember getting anything like this. We also picked up the Journalist TV cart with the under mount shelves. I thought it might have been an accessory for that, but haven't been able to find anything about it.
I'll see if I can get my wife to snap some new photos today and I'll post them as soon as I can.
