Shipping to Brooklyn, NY

HI all. I'm new around these parts.

I'm interested in buying a MALM 6 drawer chest & JONAS desk. I have a 4 dr sedan so loading the boxes into my car is not an option. Both items will be shipped to Brooklyn but I don't know the shipping cost. (Was on hold for 20 minutes with the Long Island store inquiring about their $99 delivery charge tiIl I gave up.) Here are my questions:

Is it better to place the order from the store or by telephone?
What are the shipping & handling costs to NYC?
Do the items ship from the closest store or from a warehouse?
What carrier is typically used and what is the estimated delivery time?
Any other delivery options I may not have considered?

You can't order from a store over the phone - you'd have to go in person for that purchase. If you purchase in the store, the items would come out of that store's inventory - the Malm and Jonas series are both self-serve .

If you order over the phone, the items would be shipped out a warehouse - in your case, it might be the one in Westhampton, NJ, though I'm not positive. You would probably be given a three-week window for that delivery, which would come by common carrier (probably not UPS, etc.) I have no idea what the shipping charges would be, but I can't imagine it would be cheap.

Having said all that, I seriously wonder whether you can order your two pieces over the phone, and I wouldn't trust anyone but the stores local delivery company to do this handling, because the items you're talking about buying are large and heavy.

The desk will come in a single box, slightly larger than the desk top (55x25") and about 3" thick; it's gonna weigh in the neighborhood of 80 pounds. The chest (I assume you're talking about the standard upright 6 drawer, not the narrow 6 or the low, wide double chest) will come in two boxes, one about the size of the side of the unit (48x19) and the other the size of the top (32x19); both will be about 5-6" thick and weigh about 60 pounds each.

It might be best for you to rent or borrow a van or larger car so you can do a pick-up yourself. And if you wait a few more weeks, your new local store will be located in .......BROOKLYN!!!!
