I've searched and can't find this specific question...

if I get the multipurpose white dioder set, do I have to use all four lights? ie, can I just use two or three off of the transformer or is it formed that way without any option of customization...(short of cutting stuff off).

I can' t be positive, but I know that the stick version of those lights say that "up to 4" can be connected... so that would make me think that 1-3 are an option. The multipurpose lights don't say that directly, but each light is plugged in individually. I've attached the assembly instructions, and you may want to call your local IKEA and talk to an IKEAn in the Lighting department -- they've probably worked with it specifically, or can go have a look at it.

you can use only one.
they are ment to be setup in parallel (that is, the voltage generator will give more current)

sxpert has it right. I own the dioder strips and you can use 1 to 4, but why would you only want one of those babies? The multipurpose is a little cheaper at $40 but thats an expensive LED if you only use one!
