Blogging and galleries
Greetings - I just started my very first blog EVER today and wondered how I can put more than just one picture in the gallery? I wanted to post a few of the before, then some of the during and I'm probably going to be so excited, I'll want to put 100 of the afters on there!
Anyone good at blogging and pics, could use some advice!
Thanks - lauren aka PrincessaMyron

Hi Lauren - I wasn't quite sure how to include photos in the blogs either - the first thing you need to do is upload photos to the galleries -
then you can use the "My pictures" in either a forum post or a blog entry and select the ones for which you want to have thumbnails included in that post.
You can also enable your photos to display from the gallery in your blog - e.g. on the left or right, top or bottom by updating your profile to include the images block.
Have you checked out the tutorial that Susan has on blogging ?
Check out my blog - you'll see how the images appear from the block (it will show the most recent images you've posted to the gallery) - or for thumbnails within a blog entry.
I'm also happy to help if you have specific question.
I'm looking forward to seeing and following your progress!
Doreen

Hi PrincessaMyron! Great Questions! Here are a couple of things to get you started:
The Blog Guide's Guide to Blogging
Tutorial: IKEA Planner: How to Save and Post Plans at IKEAFANS
Page 2 of the tutorial has directions on how to post to the galleries. I'm going to write another version specific to posting photos, and I'll probably include instructions on how to include the photos you've posted as well as others' photos in your posts and blog.
I hope that helps, and look for more information coming soon! I'll post any new links back here, and I'm going to sticky this thread so that others can find the information as well. Thanks for starting a great thread!
Susan

new photos in old blogging forum?
For those of us with old progress blogs in the forums, can we still post photos? I uploaded some today, and now can't see them. I have a few more to add.
Hmmn.... when I clicked on the thread from the new IKEAFANS home page, the photos show up. Guess I'll add the Billy photos now.

Managing blocks
I must have a block on this block management!
I don't seem to be able to post multiple photos in my blog like the fabulous Demicent and others do. I've compensated with multiple entries using the URL method, but that's not really very effective. When I go into the blog entry, I don't see the manage blocks area? Can you help a fellow American down on her technology luck?
Kelly
There are multiple ways to include photos in your blog entries.
Blog Photo - using Additional Options below the text editor you can designate a single image (linked from a URL) for use as an image to represent the blog entry.
Insert Image - Using the standard Insert Image button on the text editor toolbar, you can insert an image of any size into the text area of your entry.
My Pictures - Using the My Pictures link below the Smilies on the right side of your text editor allows you to insert thumbnail images of photos you have previously uploaded into the IKEAFANS Galleries, or others' photos that you have collected into an Album in the IKEAFANS Galleries
Latest Images Block- This image block pulls and displays your most recently uploaded photos from the IKEAFANS Galleries
Images Block - This block can be edited in your Block Manager to include the photos you specify. You can also add a Caption and link the photo to another location, such as a thread discussing the content of the photo.

Kelly - what I found to be the easiest thing to do is to upload the photos to the galleries - then use the My Gallery link (I couldn't figure out the URL thing when I tried to use it... that was prior to their being a blog guide..)
once you've got the small window with the images from your gallery you select the photo to include in your blog and it appears - you can select multiple photos - but need to select them one at a time.
the blocks must be activiated in your blog settings (not in the blog entry). you can choose where the block would appear in your blog - top, bottom, right side, etc...
I found that I wasn't using the blocks much because it was easier to include the photos in the blog entry that the photo actually belonged in.
hope this helps and didn't add to the confusion.
Doreen

Kelly - Managing blocks is an item on the Blog menu - the one on the blue nav bar above. Click on the menu, then select Manage Blocks. You'll get the listing of blocks available and will be able to enable/disable, choose where to place blocks and for those blocks that you select the content (rather than blocks that pull from the database, such as recent images), you'll be able to edit the content.
If that doesn't make sense or doesn't fit what you're seeing, let me know!!

Thank you both very much! As always, great assistance. I figured I'd ask my question out here so other people could see it! Cross your fingers and you'll be seeing more photos very soon!!

Re: Blogging and galleries
Hi, this isn't a question about using the blog so much as about content. I'm not in the middle of any remodeling. I'm not planning on ever getting an Ikea kitchen (at least not in my current house). Is it permissable to create a blog here just to show off other Ikea furniture and products in action? Even if they're part of a project that has already been completed?
