Hi,

How do we make suggestions to IKEA about opening a new store?
We badly need one here in VA Beach.
All the furniture stores here are overpriced, expensive, and outdated.

I am 100% sure that IKEA would make a killing here in VA Beach.
The closest one is a 4-hour drive to Woodbridge, VA.

Come on Hampton Roads people. Join me to get IKEA built here!

Gompol - I know that the folks in Charlotte, North Carolina campaigned for years before they were announced to be getting a new IKEA down there in 2009.

I'm with you on wanting another IKEA further south, but I think there may be a few limiting factors for Va. Beach. First, there's no land left in Va. Beach, and an IKEA requires ACREAGE. Second, 64/264 aren't exactly major highways (in the scheme of things) and aren't the highways upon which IKEA's products currently flow (think 85/95). Third, a little bird told me that IKEA doesn't plan to expand more in North America beyond their currently announced/planned openings for a while. Doesn't mean it would never happen, though...one can always hope.

And I agree it would be nice! I grew up there and my mom still lives there, and we visit fairly frequently. Maybe if I could get her into a store she'd stop thinking I'm crazy for spending so much time on this site!!

Maybe they should come up with a different scheme like IKEA EXPRESS or something. A smaller version with limited choices with minimal showrooms. It would also handle pick-up-at-store web orders. So its more of a routing system than a selling products model.

Of course they can charge extra to the customer for delivery/shipping/routing but I'm pretty sure customers would be willing to pay up to 10% (maybe more) for the shipping. I know I would.

Just a thought.

Meanwhile, let me go sulk here in the corner.. sniff sniff.. I miss IKEA
