Hi. I am awaiting the new SORBO range (hopefully with us here in the UK from next month!). I wondered if anyone knew more about what this range is likely to be - glossy, wood effect, matt, painted etc etc?

I have read the New for 2007 section but I'm not up to speed on what is meant by'particleboard with a laminate (melamine foil)' ??

Does that mean very glossy?

I only ask because I wouldn't want to hold on forever only to discover that it's not suitable anyway!

That means the kind of plastic-y finish you find on some IKEA stock. It isn't real wood - just a picture - and usually has a semi-gloss finely pebbled surface. Looks like laminate (formica), just thinner.

I finally opened the sample door I ordered - the finish is glossy, with a narrow natural birch trim. I like the look - hope to post pictures soon.

Torrus - any more info on the SORBO? Do you have a whole kitchen there or just one door?

I was wondering about the glossiness - is it a high gloss like Abstrakt or something else? Does it have any markings on it, or is it just plain? And is it noticeably grey, or does it look black?

And what about the wood trim? How thick is that & is it solid wood? Could it be lightly sanded and stained a little darker?

Mmmmmm, if you ever do manage to work out how to post those photos I'd really appreciate it! It looks like I'm not going to be able to make it to IKEA myself due to illness and my DH is going to have to do all the work..........so the more info I can get on-line the better!

I'm really interested to know what it looks like and what the trim looks like. Would you be able to see the trim when the door is closed?

Well, know you're busy so if you ever have a mo'...............thanks.

I saw the Sorbo Drak Grey at Ikea Emeryville and a quick way to describe it is that it reminds me of the Numerar Dark Grey countertops.
