Glue smells & off gassing from Laxeby slate?

I am thinking of creating a platform bed with a metal frame and the Laxeby slates. I notice that they are layered and glued rather than a solid slate of wood. How much odor and off gassing is there? I am sensitive to such things. Also comfort?
