With a full kitchen order, I'm accumulating a ton of cardboard. I was wondering if Ikeas had a recycling dump for their boxes. I'm just trying to kill two birds with one stone as I'm going back Thursday to pick up what was special ordered and have a truck...if not, I'll find a local place to recycle it all. I figured I'd just ask because Ikea is such an environmentaly friendly company.
I've been trying to call Ikea Tempe, but I can't get to a person. So I'm relying on you guys because you know all!
The IKEA store in Bloomington has pallet-bins in various locations in the parking lot labeled for cardboard recycling... not sure if other IKEA stores do, though.
Covina has the cardboard recycle bins next to the 15-minute loading parking spots on both levels.

Sadly, when I was working from home one trash pickup day several months ago, I witnessed my carefully broken down and separated cardboard being thrown in with all the rest of the garbage. I never again put cardboard out by the curb.
At the Atlanta store, there is one very small bin located near the front corner of the store (the left side as you face the entrance). When I arrived it was overflowing. I managed to wedge my lot into the bin pretty tightly, but if I hadn't been able to do that I would have left as it was a windy day and the cardboard would have wound up all over 16th Street. The security guard said that was the only bin they had.
Hopefully we will all continue to recycle and they will quickly realize they need to add more bins.
One somewhat unusual benefit I've found to IKEA packaging:
It makes *IDEAL* kindling for fireplaces/stoves. The cardboard they use has no dyes or paint on it, and has a bare minimum of plastic and tape. I rip.cut it up and use it to get the stove in the basement (our very low tech radiant heating system for the floors of the first floor ) started when it's cold out.
