My mother recently (last week) found out that she has not one, but three breast lumps! She had been having mammograms but after awhile figured they were pointless since she was always being told that they were "normal." I got on her case a couple months ago and insisted she have one done. She will be going in for a biopsy on Wednesday. I could really wring her neck for not taking her checkups seriously! Her youngest sister had breast cancer three years ago and is okay now.

It's been a crazy week for the family. Mum's biopsies came back positive. She has stage II cancer I'm taking her for a consult with a surgeon on the 7th.

Oh, Mari, I am so sorry to hear that news. My prayers for your mom as she undergoes treatment, and for you to have an extra measure of grace and patience as you help her through this time.

Oh Mari... I'm really sorry !! I know how terrible it is to hear that news - for both you and for your Mom. Do you have the specifics of the pathology ??
I can point you to some wonderful online resources - for both you and your mom - for information and support - as well as a hotline where she can talk to trained breast cancer survivors - for support and resources.
I'd be happy to talk to you or your Mom if that would be of use to you - either via internet or on the phone. I've gone through training and am a peer counselor for y-me - as well as having my own experience with breast cancer.
You're in what I felt to the the toughest part of the whole situation - where you have a diagnosis - but no treatment plan yet - there are many unknowns and decisions to make. It will get easier as the additional information comes in from tests - and decisions are made about treatment. If I can be of help please don't hesitate to

Thanks Eva. Who would have thought a thread like this was going to affect me? I had seen it for weeks now, and though I am diligent about my annual pap and physical, I still didn't think that I would be joining this post.
