Escher leans on designs by the Swedish artist Oskar Reutersvärd. Reutersvärd was honoured by the Swedish Postal Services with a set of stamps issued in 1982. (Origin of pic : postmuseum.posten.se)
Looking too long at these designs turns my head into one of these designs...
