I had an idea and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this. My ceiling jousts are 16 on center and it seems like the smaller Lack TV stand would line up perfectly with these if I were to mount it upside down using steel L brackets from the legs to the ceiling jousts. I was then going to reinforce the attachment of the legs to the shelf with another set of L brackets. I am going to paint all of the brackets white to match the stand. Once it is on the ceiling I was going to set a projector on the shelf area, run the 2 needed cords around the back and then up through the ceiling using a recessed pass through wall plate. Then I can run these cords through my attic and down the wall to come out underneath my projection screen.
Can anyone see any major flaws with this idea? I think it will look a lot nicer than the metal projector mounts, and it will hide the chords going into the ceiling.
Well I decided to go with a standard mount for now, the nearest ikea is about 2 hours away from me, so next time I make a trip I may try this out. I still plan on using 2 of the larger Lack TV Stands to hold my A/V equipment underneath the screen, can't wait to get it all set up.
Make sure the areas you attach the brackets to actually have wood behind them. Most of the areas in Lack pieces are about 1/32 inch thick with honeycomb behind them. The honeycomb won't hold any screws so you need to make sure the area you drill into has some substance to it.
