Question Door dividers - creative customization - PLEASE HELP!

Hello everyone!

I rent out the basement of a house. I'd like to place a door @ the bottom of an open basement that can provide me with some privacy from the kitchen which is directly @ the top of the stairs.

Here is an image with dimensions indicated:
dimensionsfrdoors.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I saw the wardrobe doors listed here, and thought they'd be perfect:
IKEA | Wardrobes | PAX/KOMPLEMENT system | PAX LYNGDAL | Pair of sliding doors

dimensions of sliding doors:
Width: 98 3/8 "
Height: 79 1/8 "
Thickness: 7/8 "

Problem is is that it is 11" too short to fit from floor to ceiling. Any suggestions?

Then I saw this article on ikea hackers:
ikea hacker: divide and conquer

Since the doors do not touch the ceiling, how do they slide? They are attached by tension poles? How are they secured? Is the 'sliding' not doable? Are these doors being edited a bit and being used as only dividers?

I will absolutely compromise and allow the space between the top of the doors and the ceiling so that I can have some form of doors and privacy here.

If anyone knows a way to help me, I'd appreciate it greatly!!!

Re: Door dividers - creative customization - PLEASE HELP!

I posted a whole dIY tutorial on how to turn the PAX sliding doors into a room divider, linked here and on my blog at Modern in MN.
If you want something that goes all the way to the ceiling, I suggest filling in the space above the top of the doors with panels in the material of your choice, secured to the wall and to whatever you use for a center support, and possibly the ceiling depending on how involved you want to get.
