I am thinking on making a small table, in a slightly unusual size. I had seen the VIKA CURRY legs, and was thinking on attaching them to an antonius shelf. (all the other table tops are too large). As I live in a small apartment, I am trying to avoid doing any cutting.

The legs say that they are appropriate for a top 1" thick, and the shelf is not this thickness. does anyone have any feedback or experience with doing this sort of thing? is the thickness set in stone? or can a thinner shelf be used?

The table would end up being used for applying makeup (for my wife) so the weight of the things on top would not be a lot.

Two issues with using something as thin as the antonius shelf:
1. the legs are attached with screws to the "tabletop" and a thinner material may not provide enough for the screws to grab and hold.

2. the thinner material (not sure which anotnius shelf you are talking about) will likely sag and/or be unsafe as a weight bearing surface when supported only on the outer corners.

I think you would be better off choosing something thicker and cutting it to the size you need rather than choosing the shelf just because it's the "right" size.

While the thickness (or lack thereof) can be an issue, the bigger aspect would be that the Antonius shelves don't have much pullout resistance in the material to begin with.

Though just as thin, the solid wood Tryggve shelf boards may be a better bet; not much of cost difference either, IIRC.

Jarpen shelves would work better than either of these, as its thicker, though perhaps not the right size?
