Help to make my Mikael desk stronger!

I have a "black" Mikael desk, and I have a bunch of DJ equipment ontop of it... On the website it says the max amount of weight i can hold on this table is 30lbs... i have maybe x5 that

Im planning on putting a Expedit shelf under this (IKEA | Storage furniture | Bookcases | EXPEDIT | Shelving unit)
modding that so that it can fit under the table (horizantly) That means ill have about 11 inches of space left...

How can i make this desk stronger?

I need this to work... I dont want all my dj equipment just falling to the ground... and I could get another table, but i need it in black!

please help!

Here's an old picture when i first got the table (the speakers are ontop of the table now)

Re: Help to make my Mikael desk stronger!

Max weight is actually 30kg ... so it's actually 66 lbs.

That said, both the Expedit and the Mikael use panels of honeycomb construction, and won't lend itself to easy hacking; I don't suggest cutting down the Expedit to fit at all.

If the weight is well distributed, the desk could handle it. It's concentrated loads in which the honeycomb design shows its weaknesses.

Re: Help to make my Mikael desk stronger!

Hmm, yeah i tried putting my speakers as far back to the corner as i can, and my turntables as far to the sides as i can and the mixer (the silver thing in the middle) isisnt too heavy, so thats in the middle

The expedit only needs to be shortened to 3 boxes, rather than the 5...

not sure about the height, but maybe you could use something like this or this to add some support?
