I have two Ikea Poang chairs from my days in an apartment and now that I've moved, the chairs don't match any of our new furniture. I have all black-brown and these are lighter in colour. My question is – is there any way to successfully paint them, given their ability to move. I'm afraid of paint cracking instantly.
Please help! When I get a project in my head I want to start right away!
I'm not sure about the painting idea, but what color do you want them to be?
If all your furniture is black-brown, I'd go with a medium brown look. I have that black brown chair, and my place looks boring with all the same color.
I'd expect that a stain would work better than a paint given the flexible nature of the POANG chair. You'd have to be able to strip it down from all the previous finish.
Hi newbie_DIY, welcome to IKEAFans!
I have the same problem, except I bought my Poangs used. I'm planning on recovering the boring off-white cushions with some better fabric once I find some but I don't know what to do about the birch colored wood. Doesn't go with much in my house. Please let us know your results if you try painting or staining them. Thanks!
