2009 IKEA kitchen planning software...

Sorry to hear that there's problems with the IKEA HomePlanner.
A bit of advice from IKEA is that before installing a new version, always make sure to uninstall the old one.
Not only uninstall it but also check the C:\Program Files folder if the "IKEA HomePlanner" folder is completely removed. If not, make sure to delete it manually and the restart your computer.
After this make sure to visit your countrys IKEA website and download the newest planner from there.
Since all the three planners(Kitchen,Work and Bedroom) are packed in to one file you can always download the one found under kitchen for all your needs. This because kitchen is the most important area for the planner and most likely the one to be up to date.

I carefully uninstalled the 2008 version tonight and the 2009 installed cleanly, after I-don't-know-how-many tries. With Windows XP.

As of yet, the Canadian 2009 version is still unavailable...
I could "play" with the US one, but the prices are much better than what we have here... even the kitchen promotion is better (20% for you, 10% in gift card for us)... I would understand (maybe) if we did not speak English and lived on another planet, but we are just one hour drive away, how can we be so ill-served.

Years ago, national advertising in the US often included a disclaimer "prices slightly higher west of the Rockies". The Pacific coast was a bit isolated from national markets by distance and by the region's weak retail infrastructure. Both factors ensured that high prices wouldn't be challenged.

I suspect that Canada , a market something like the size of California, is, in today's context, "a bit isolated".

This is really strange, we've send them the new planner in the end of September. I'll make sure to remind them to update this.

Price discrepancies are not only on IKEA products (books and magazines are easy to identify-price of both currencies are printed). In the past year, with our dollar often at par - admittedly not in the past few weeks...- it would have been nice to see IKEA adjust its prices before printing the 2009 catalogue. The auto industry has adjusted their prices more in line in both countries, you would think that a home furnishings store would too… and with the web and it is so simple to compare. As a consumer it gets a bit frustrating.

I don't want to dwell on this further (it's about the Planner afterall), it's just in case someone from IKEA is listening.

Great, thanks for the information. It's not always easy to make sure that the countries update the links on the web pages.

For IKEA Canada , the 2009 IKEA kitchen planning software is now updated to 2009 (v 1.9.9.2). It's a 17 Mb download and says "Prices good until July 1, 2009"

Phew!

I just downloaded it and ordered up our second kitchen last night (resale property this time). Adel white. (Black Granite top is the plan)
