IKEA Seeks YOUR help! Tech help: Have you seen this before?
Hi IKEAfans,
I'm working at IKEA with the IKEA Home Planner application and I just wanted to try and utilize the knowledge we have here at the forum by collecting some information.
IKEA needs your help and we're looking for users who have experienced the phenomena seen in the picture below.
This seems to be occurring mostly on XP machines, but the reason is yet to be found.
What we're looking for is the configuration of your hardware and software that you had while experiencing this problem. Also of course, if you solved it the explanation wouldn't hurt.
Hi! Welcome to IKEAFANS! We're so glad you're here!
Is this a Windows XP problem in general, or does it occur primarily in Windows Vista? I know that I've had problems for years with even installing the planner on my XP machine. But I'd like to try to help if I can!
I'll go seek out the latest version of the planner and install and see if I get any problems.
FWIW
, I've had a fair number of problems with the planner in Vista (not so much in XP), but I've never seen that on either OS, although I do have frequent freezes in Vista Ultimate 32.

Thanks for the warm welcome Susan. I really appreciate all your help!
This actually seems to be an XP exclusive issue. However we haven't sufficient data to duplicate the error so this is why we're asking our loyal customers and fans for help.
In regards to the Vista problems we're really keen on getting feedback to this as well, but I think we should keep the issues apart.
To be clear, the IKEA HomePlanner has been thoroughly tested with Vista without any trouble. But despite this we've noticed that some customers still have had trouble with Vista. However we don't have sufficient data here either so this is something we're hoping to find here as well.
I've created yet another thread for Vista specific problems. Here everyone with trouble regarding Vista are welcome to state their case.
See: Tech help: IKEA HomePlanner on Windows Vista
Susan: Can you help me with stating both the different threads in the nice shoutout that you've made? That would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
I run XP and haven't run into that problem with the planner, but it certainly does hog memory and sometimes the graphics get funky...redrawing the screen seems to get stuck and that would certainly result in a screen that looks like that!
Re: IKEA Seeks YOUR help! Tech help: Have you seen this before?
I downloaded the planner software yesterday, and despite having previous versions on my machine (Windows XP Pro, 2002 SP2) , I was able to get 2009 software up and running. Which is something of a miracle in and of itself as I haven't been able to get a planner working on my machine since sometime in 2005! I'll keep playing with it to see if I can make it mis-behave.
Hadirajan - do you have any clues about what might cause these issues so that we can try to re-create the trouble?
Re: IKEA Seeks YOUR help! Tech help: Have you seen this before?
I just responded to the Vista thread with a problem I've been having. However, I have also had this problem while running the planner on Vista. After furnishing a room in 2D and I go to open the room in 3D the room turns to black. When I go back to the 2D I can all of the items I have added to the room. I've attempted to save the room and open it another time but I once again am unable to see the room in 3D. I had just considered this as another Vista glitch and didn't think that the XP users were also experiencing this problem.

Version 1.9.7 running on XP SP2, tried rebooting already.
Program loads up fine, but whenever I try to load my saved drawing from the IKEA network or from my USB key I get an error. It seems to still load on my laptop at home. Almost finished the design and I would hate to have to start it again, any ideas?
