I'm using the most current version of Firefox 8.0.1
Initially it also asked me to download the plugin,
but unlike Safari, it worked with Firefox. I'm still
using Snow Leopard (v 10.6.8) and not on Lion
yet. Too bad Ikea doesn't at least acknowledge
on their website that there's a problem.

Interesting. I'm also on 10.6.8, but since updating firefox to 8.0.1 I can see the plug-in in the firefox add-ons list but firefox won't acknowledge it anymore as anything but an older deprecated "unknown" plug-in.

Today I've discovered that there is a new version 5.0.93.0 from 10/3/11 which WORKS on Lion 10.7.2 in Safari 5.1.2 !

Maybe it's only the European version? Glad at least there's one, anyway.

It hasn't been working two days ago (it was some April version) so it appears they have posted it very recently. And I don't think that a plugin itself is localized. So maybe just try to exchange the one in / Library /Internet plug-ins/ to the one from here:

Well, the latest US version still doesn't work in either 10.6 or 10.7, so I would guess they must be different somehow. Anyway, glad it works for you.

I have not tried the plugin version from US Ikea site, but what I have just done is that I've opened the US planner with this new plugin from the PL Ikea site. And in my opinion it works as it should (see screenshot attached).

Nope, went to the PL site and tried that plug-in. Still no go, and the planner now even says:

Please note! OSX Lion and IKEA Home Planner are not currently compatible. We are working on solving this. We apologize for any inconvenience.

So I don't know how it's working for you, but it's great that it is.

to access the Canadian
planner in Safari again.

Hey, it does work after all, if you delete the old plug-in instead of letting it overwrite it.
