hi
I just bought a Sultan Alsarp Full Size Storage Bed base on Craigslist.
I am having trouble getting the metal frame for the rails to line up straight inside of the mattress base. It is leaning crooked to the left about one inch, causing it to rub against the inside corner a little, getting caught on the inside of the slipcover edge.
how can I fix this?
thank you!
Are your sure the metal frame is square? Just to check, measure the distance from a corner to the corner diagonally across from it and then the distance between the other two corners. If the two distances are the same then the frame is square and it's probably a problem with the hinges. If you can give me some more information I can take a look at Alex's bed tomorrow to see if anything you're seeing is abnormal.
It certainly shouldn't rub though, his is the same distance from the sides of the beds from the head of the bed to the foot.

Hi James,
I am going to check today. I am probably going to have to loosen and realign.
I will write back - but probably under a slightly different name, as I just realized I misspelled my login name! (doh!)

Hi all,
I could really use some help with the Sultan Alsarp I have purchased a few days ago.
Like Amy, I'm also having "alignment" problems. Basically the metal frame leans on the right hitting the wood panel at the corner and the metal connector in the middle. What this also means is that on the left side the metal frame is only half resting on the inner wood frame. I tried a bunch of things to fix this. I loosened and tightened all screws, then just some.
Did I get a defective unit or is there something I'm missing here?
I followed to the T the instruction manual and I also was on the phone with Ikea and the answer was to reassemble the metal frame and if that didn't work just bring it back. I love the Sultan Alsarp and want it to work, but how?
Anyone has any ideas?

I have two Sultan Alsarp for a king bed. The floor model would click into place as it went up and than you raised it all the way up and it would drop down. Mine flies open and than you have to push to close it. I am getting my mattress tomorrow (Sealy) and am concerned that I will not be able to lift it as it we weight of the mattress will cause it to remain shut. Did I assembly BOTH of these incorrectly. I followed the instructions perfectly. Was the floor model assembled wrong and no one bothered to fix it? Please help. Let me know if yours "clicks" and holds at differant heights on the way up or if it flies open and you have to push down to close. Thanks.
Ours clicks up as it goes, and you have to go all the way up before you can put it back down again like the floor model, but that's likely because we've got a mattress on it, so there's some weight on top. Have you tried opening the one that flies open with some weight on it? Maybe something heavy tied onto some of the slats so it doesn't slide as you list the top up?

How long does this typically take to put together? Ballpark estimate/range? I just purchased the Queen model on Sunday, and I want to get an idea about when I should try to take on the task of assembly. It seems very involved, or at least much more than some of my other IKEA purchases.
