I was wondering on which height the rail has to be mounted on the wall?

Is there a preferred height?, and how far from the top of the cabinet should this be?

IIRC the bottom of the rail should be 2 1/2" below where you want the top of the cabinet to be. This article walks you though most of the details: Suspension Rail Installation

Preferred height kinda depends on your particular layout and how high you want the cabinets to be?

Thanks for the quick reply. This should get me going.

One more question; what is the max weight the suspension rail can hold? Or more in general, how much weight is a kitchen cabinet suppose to hold? My Gold plated plates can become heavy.

Here's a picture of one of the posters about weight limits.

Just about nobody puts anywhere *near* that much in a cabinet.
Run some searches on wall cabinet weight limit and you'll find lots of discussions. Basically use strong ( NOT drywall ) screws to support the suspension rail and you'll be fine.
