Hello. I am new here. I bought the bookcase 73 x 73 today. My friend and I tried to assemble this for 5 hours. And, we call it for night.
Some of the boad seems warped?? , peg ( joint) didn't go throught the holes, one side in and other side out... I am hopeful that somebody in this community would give me some advice to finish assembling this soon.
thank you,
mimi7
OK, there are 2 ways of building this item, one will take you 5+ hours and will look like it will never go together and the other will take you 40 mins maximum.
The first way is to not knock in the wooden pegs far enough as the instructions don't really suggest how far to do it, I'm always cautious.
The ONLY way to build this thing properly and quickly is to really hammer the wooden pegs in until the tone of the knocking changes as you reach the full depth of the hole. If done correctly you will have approxiamately 1cm of wooden peg sticking out and the shelving will be easier to join and the exterior long wooden parts will be simple to add at the end. So go ahead and hammer in those wooden pegs as far as you can.
Good tip! Thanks for posting that... That's exactly why we have the ability to add comments!
James

I can't remember how long they are, not really long. Why not just drop a pencil into the holes and then measure that - it will give you the maximum size you need.
If you say you haven't got any 'hardware', b aware you'll need 8 strong screws to put the shelving together in the corners.
I am moving into a new unit in my apartment building and it won't fit into the elevator.
Any suggestions on how to disassemble without destroying this great piece? I didn't put it together, but have downloaded the instructions. Do you think a rubber mallet is needed or just a hammer?
I have moved with this bookcase, to disassemble you need to lay the bookcase down on the floor - have a sheet or mat or something to stop it getting really scratched - then undo the four bolts on the top and the four bolts on the bottom using an allen key. Then just pull the unit apart, if it seems stuck together then just use a rubber mallet gently until it comes apart. All of the shelving bits are held together with wooden dowelling/pegs.
i then got a pair of pliers and pulled all of the wooden dowelling out and placed them ina bag ready for re-building. Hope that helps.
Hello all. I am new here and I was hoping someone might know the answer to this.
I have just moved and I plan on putting my 4X4 expedit bookcase together again I seemed to have lost the screws that come with it. I have everything else and the dowels are still in place. If anyone knows the screw dimensions it would be greatly appreciated.
