FULL INSTRUCTIONS for the Yellow IKEA clock
"Slabang" rubber alarm clock:
Set ALARM time:
Hold down the button with the "clockface" (3
pm
symbol), until you hear a beep. Then you can set the alarm time.
(It takes about 10 seconds to return to TIME mode after you finish setting.)
Set CLOCK:
Tap the button with the "clockface" once to get to 12-hr clock.
(will show "pm")
Then tap it again for the HOUR, then the MINUTE and then to SET.
TO RECORD your own "alarm sounds":
Press and hold the red button with white dot. A red light will go on. Speak into the speaker/mic (or knock out a musical rhythm nearby...) and let go of the red button when your recording is complete. The > button will play back your recording.
ALARM ON:
move the alarm switch to the right so it is over the picture of the arrow > to have your recorded sounds be the alarm.
(Or set the switch under the bell to have a normal beep-beep alarm.)
Under the alarm switch is the volume button.
SNOOZE feature repeats alarm 5 minutes after you hit the gray bar.
Move the alarm switch in back to OFF.
BONUS IDEAS:
As a timer, for boring chores, you can switch between beeps and recordings during the snooze alarms. For example move the switch from " > " to " bell" it each time it alarms. This will help amuse you or keep you on track for 10 minutes cycles of putting things away, for instance. Especially if you have a good recording.
The recording sounds very scratchy on mine, (it's used) so I opted for percussion plus some tones hummed in the background.
these instructions were adapted from two of the earlier posts here, plus my experience.
