this morning I was walking through my kitchen in construction and thought, "what on earth made me think we could do this ourselves?!? Gardenof Darwin!" And I don't think it's a bad thing.
BTW, where did the donation link go to? It used to be on the main page with an Amazon logo...

I'm deeply grateful for the support I find here. If not for this place, I would not have had the nerve to insist to myself and DH that we could DO this.
Last night DH offered to buy me ANY CABINETS I wanted. Anything. Custom, modern, ANYTHING!
Without hesitation I said no!
I'm so INVESTED in this Ikea kitchen. I've been daydreaming on the planner for two years now. There's a whole lot of me going into the plan. And a whole lot of you guys, too.
Isn't that true? There's so much to this decision to use IKEA cabinets. Lots of good reasons, but at some point, it's about being invested in yor surroundings, and not living in a habitrail, e.g. an environment chosen for you by the "larger beings." There's so much satisfaction in doing something yourself, and we get so little of it in our purchased finished product world. Which I am admittedly a part of.
But we all need some real in our reality!
And of course, some chocolate in our peanut butter.
FWIW, this site is a great reference and I used it extensively in my design and construction process. Sometimes I sit there and wonder what to do next, or how to solve a problem, and the answer is usually here, and if it isn't I can ask the question
Re: IKEAFANS: the who, what , when, where, how and how much.....
Well, all I have to say is that yes, I totally agree that this is one "friendly" and extensive discussion board. I teach online, so I'm used to discussion threads, forums, and the online world - but at some other discussion sites I've been to, everyone seems to be so **** SNOTTY! I mean, who do they think they are and who do they think I am? I guess on some boards, usernames are just characters on a screen, but here, like in my classes, my typed words equal ME - yes, a real person. People here have humility, respect, and everyone keeps their sense of humor! Some other boards have "professional" moderators to make you feel so stupid when you ask a questions, but you know what, that doesn't happen here, and that's why I switched from them to you! (I also didn't like being told that i needed to spend $5K for a "good" bed!)
Thanks IKEAfans - I've been lurking a long time - way back before the switchover, but since I've joined officially, my experience has only gotten better.

Knutter,
Same here - but for appliances. I did not even post a message on that "other forum" (one forum I use calls them the "Dark Side" LOL!) because I spent about the same for all the appliances for my new house as thos guys would spend on a simple range. And we won't even talk about what they will spend for a professional one.
But the comments here about my new bargain applianes were "sexy".
This is a very friendly place with terrific moderators and a wonderful group of people.
