Hello from Chatham Ontario

Hi,

We re building a house, plan on a Ikea Kitchen , since the Home Builder's recommended Cabinent Maker 's quote is double what Ikea's is.

Stopped by the Canton store today, the Kitchen Ikean wasnt too helpful.
"Here s the order sheet, fill it out, and let me know. Thx Bye!"

I know we're going with Birch Adel Style.
Pics to come.

Home Stores,
Canton Michigan - 1.5hrs away

Burlington Ontario - 2.5 hrs away.

The whole house is probaly going to be Ikea furnished, well most of it.

I will be posting our Kitchen plan soon.
Helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Hello from Chatham Ontario

Hi Feet_ and Welcome to IKEAFANS!

We're your place for planning and preparing for those important long-distance trips to IKEA. The store is a tough place to have to make changes to your plans, especially when you can't just turn around and go back if something's not quite right.

Our advice is to start with a Mission Statement, and start generating an initial plan in the IKEA planner available on the IKEA site. You can post that here and get feedback on your design. Then, we can roll up our sleeves and help you get down to brass tacks on your order.

Glad to have you!!

Kelly

Re: Hello from Chatham Ontario

Hi FEET! Welcome to IKEAFANS!!!

You'll see that by coming here you'll be more than happy that the fellow IKEAN at the store wasn't as helpful. You will gain so much more information here and be able to view so many wonderful kitchens that have been done by fellow IKEAFANS members just like you. It's all exciting and comforting to know this community is here for you.

Kelly pointed you in the right direction. Here's a direct link to The Value of Writing a Mission Statement

Hoping to see more of you very soon.

Re: Hello from Chatham Ontario

Hi, I'm from Waterloo Ontario. Also planning a kitchen remodel using Ikea. As per discussions all over the news and over the water coolers, our Canadian $ par with the US greenback, I checked the prices from the US store vs. here in Canada . It looks like the US is approx. 18% cheaper. Is there any duty to be paid at the border? I will drive the extra 3 hours if I can save $1000.

dont quote me , but from my duty payments last black friday sales.
its

GST+Pst +6%(if not made in N America )

so

14%+6%

check the gov't websites.

also if you re renting a vehicle, the border guard may hassle you more.
