We're currently installing a Tidalholm kitchen with the monster Domsjo sink. Glad to find this site as we are wondering about dishwasher ventilation (a code issue here in Wa. I believe), so nice to see how others are handling it. Also have a 5" leftover space next to DW and saw that we could use a Rev-a-Shelf deal there...possibly. A lot of great info and ideas on this site!
Hi Sue ... and welcome to IKEAFANS!!! I agree with you - this site is a fantastic resource and source of many wonderful ideas!!
I've got an adel birch kitchen with the double domsjo sink - and a rev-a-shelf next to my dishwasher instead of filler. It's a really nice use of the space and a terrific way to store my spices - since they're all very visible!
there are many other ideas here that have been discussed - e.g. a secret cubby ... that is a very cool idea ... looks like filler - but is actually a space where you could "hide" things ...
Have you made all your other decisions ... e.g. countertop, backsplash ?? Have you seen the blog system here ?? it's a great way to document and communicate about your progress in creating your new kitchen!
Doreen

I was just in Spokane for Thanksgiving - I have a lot of family there and it's COLD!

Thanks for the warm welcome! We are using the Numerar countertop...probably the white side. For the backsplash I'm painting the existing tiles (I've tested a few samples, and an oil-based primer seems to hold really well). One of the things I've been most excited about is the linoleum (real linoleum!) flooring IKEA is carrying now. Much more affordable than Marmoleum click (however, not nearly as many color choices). Hopefully it will be as easy to install as other Ikea flooring we've used (Tundra).
A word to anyone in Eastern Washington: I found that ordering from the store in Seattle worked out much better than ordering through Ikea direct (and saved oodles of $$ on shipping to boot). Not sure how far their "local" shipping service goes, however. I also was told the Seattle store is a franchise...didn't even know they had those. perhaps that might explain why certain stores are excluded on certain deals...?
Sue
Actually, I believe that the Seattle store was a franchise till about a month ago when it was sold back to the main company... I can't find any news about it but that's what I've heard. Seattle was their first franchise too!
My aunt and uncle (live in Spokane) and always come visit when they need Ikea stuff but I may recommend looking into the shipping part.

Interesting! I'll ask next time I'm there, or when I call. There's a truck that comes out here once or twice a week, so our order showed up on that--and very quickly I might add. There's a minimum charge for large orders like that (not cheap, but compared to Direct it was a bargain). I don't know what standard shipping (like UPS, etc.) for small orders would be, but considering the price of gas, and the road conditions in the winter...could be worth it.
What part of Spokane do your relatives live in? We're on South Hill...and right now it is a) very cold and b) extremely lovely in the snow.
Sue
They're in Spokane Valley - but I'm really bad about getting around there so I don't know where South Hill is
(I know how to go to their houses, the local grocery store and the mall and that's about it!)
