Thanks Doreen! I thought it was a pretty cool milestone, and having just passed the 1 year anniversary. You should have seen me mentally pulling for the 1000 member mark on Sunday. It was pretty pathetic.

Count me in! Deeply in - waaaay deep! LOL.
Just got my cabs and a bunch of appliances from IKEA delivered Saturday. They'll be installed in a couple weeks.
I'm remodeling my kitchen and master bathroom at the same time. Am I crazy or what? Actually I think it's pretty sensible. Get it all over and done with.
I'm doing Adel white cabs with glass-front wall cabs, Lansa handles and I'm trying stainless-looking toekicks. If I don't like the look they're easy enough to swap out with the white. My design is contemporary. Dark grey slate-look laminate flooring by Quick Step. Looks like real stone tiles - I'm not kidding.
We're choosing granite this Saturday.
The contractor is ahead of schedule and I'm so happy as of today!

I think I was probably in the first 500 but I'm sure I didn't introduce myself.
I'm going overboard on Ikea, using the new Nexus Black-Brown in both the kitchen and master bath (oh, and probablymore Ikeain the office and master closet).
Kitchen - Ultra modern look, black-brown cabs, 1 set of stacked horizontal uppers with aluminum-glass doors, polished desert sandstone caesarstone counters, floor tile TBD
Bath - Modern look with slightly Asian feel, 2 hanging vanities made from over-fridge cabs (24x15), concrete look floor tile, white mosaic tile shower and backsplash with a handful of iridescents mixed in.
Thanks to this site (big thanks Susan!) and THS, giving me the confidence to DIY.
Congrats on the 1 year anniversary and 1000th member.

Imagine my surprise to see that I am member 1000! How exciting. I now feel obligated to introduce myself.
I am known as Dulci. I live in the SF bay area. Right now we're choosing between Plan A--a 571sf addition (to our 1712sf house) which would include doubling the kitchen and family room, relocating the master bdrm and bath (making it a 5pc while at it), adding an actual master closet, and a 4th bdrm.
or Plan B--update the kitchen and most fixtures/paint etc throughout the house in the current footprint.
We are probably going to start with Plan B and move into Plan A in the fall... the great news is that I already know most of what I want. And what I want is IKEA! I love the Stat White, and I toy with doing an island (Plan A) in painted Faagerland. though I might just stick with the Stat. White Carrera countertops and Numera wood counter on the island. A creamy periwinkle blue on the walls (complements the blue couch and the Purple felt on the pool table). And yesterday I bought bamboo hardwood which I will lay myself.
I am an artist (furniture mostly) and a SAHM to 2 great kids. my hubby works in the hi-tech world, more an entrepreneur than engineer type.
I love perusing the site and seeing what everyone is doing. Can't wait to get the final decision of Plan A or B so I can just start running! And I can't wait to get to know more of you.

Welcome Gina, Gail and Dulci! So nice to get to know new members ~ I think I "know" some of you from THS...(?). I'm glad to know you're enjoying the site! If you ever have any issues (and this goes for anyone) please feel free to PM myself or one of the moderators for assistance. Usually one of us can help with anything from browser compatibility problems, trouble with posting photos or links, help with figuring out the IKEA Kitchen planner or well, just about anything. We have a really talented group here!
Also, for anyone who doesn't know it, I will send out (free of charge) an IKEA Kitchen Catalog to anyone who needs one. Just PM me with your mailing address -- Please DON'T post your personal information on the board! I send them out Priority mail, so you are only 2-3 business days away from your very own catalog!
Ok...as you were.
Susan

Hey Dulci, I'm in the Bay Area too (Los Gatos). I used to make the hike up to Emmeryville to visit Ikea so was VERY happy when East PA opened. Now even my kids are known to say "Can we got to Ikea today?" It's a great place to hang out with kids, they love it. lol. My kids are 4,2 and 8 months old.
Susan, yes I frequent the THS site. It's sad to see the Ikea threads die but obviously this site is filling that need, a natural progression.
We're off to Ikea tomorrow to see ifthe Charcoal stained mahogany edgebanding sample we did yesterday will work with the Nexus Black-Brown doors. I think it will. We start cabinet assembly tomorrow assuming what we need is in stock.

Hi Gail, I used to live down in SJ, so happy to be back in the east bay, Vallejo, to be exact.
I too will be running to IKEA this week, I'm thinking about changing out my bathroom vanities along w/the bar area of my family room. We're still a couple months away from changing out the kitchen, but I can always find plenty to do!
I lurk more than anything over at THS. I know that there is a Dulcinea over there as well, which freaked me out the first time!
Nice to meet another Bay Area person, there seems to be quite a few of us around these boards!

Hello everyone, and thanks to Susan and Eva and Martine and Tigger and any other moderators, etc. who I may have missed. Today I met with my contractor and got an official start date of Monday, July 17 (gulp), so I thought I would introduce myself. This site has been terrific even for hybrid types like myself! I love everyone's houses and kitchens, and hope someday to have a house, but for now it's a coop in NYC. For NY, it's pretty big (my kitchen is 21 feet by 7'9"). I'm a university professor, inclined to be a DIYer, but hampered in that due to lack of time. My sister lives in the same building (different wing) as me, which is a lot of fun, and was to make the demo time easy, except that she is away for the summer. I'm originally from Massachusetts (South Shore), but have lived in 7 states and two other countries since leaving Mass. Somehow, though, it still feels like home. My design tastes can best be described as Shaker modern meets Zen, though I tend to have too many books and papers around for the true minimalist esthetic to dominate. I love to travel and to stay home...I'll be going to Bali at the end of the summer. Crazily, it's only for a week, but I have a book manuscript due in September.
