studio design

Hi IKEA friends. I live in Wyoming. My kids have flown the coupe leaving me with an empty nest. With the family gone I've decided to transform the family room (19x22) into a studio apartment. I have been designing plans. Was bummed to find IKEA no longer sales it's micro kitchen unit that had a 2 burner cooktop on one end with a sink on the other. It's ok. I have decided to have two centers. One will be wet the other dry. I have 60" for one and 72" for the other, I am adding a corner bathroom. The back side of the wall will serve the 60" area. The actual corner will be walled to the kitchen side and house a tolet on the bath side. I found a great floor plan tool at Better Homes and Gardens where I could add everything for the entire room, it's great. I think I am getting closer. With the small space I thought I should use a 34" high fridge that will fit under the udden sink cabinet. Not sure if the sink will be big enough though? I also plan to install a electric two burner cooktop with an wall mount micro/hood. Whirlpool has a burner for $139.00 not bad. Who has cut into the stainless counter top? From pictures I can see someone did, but IKEA instructions say nothing that I can find. Well, feel free to share any related project experience. Thanks! Deb

I've been blogged!
Hello Debu: welcome to IKEAFANS! I can't answer the questions you've asked. You might want to create a new thread with this question but over in the installation/modifications section - instead of in introductions - it will most likely get seen more in the installation part of the forums.

That micro unit IKEA used to sell is very cool. I wish I'd have had the foresight to purchase one - for use in a detached building I have on my property. It would have been perfect to turn that into a guest house - the upstairs of the building is finished - the downstairs is basically garage/workshop - it would be good to have a little kitchenette in there - for extended visits by family.
