Hi! there..remodelling kitchen.. will need help!

I just came across this site from the Gardenweb forums and this is such a good resource. DH and I are thinking about remodelling our small, dated, ugly, dark non-functional kitchen(probably can add a few more negatives ) sometime soon. We have been Ikea fans for a long time. Infact, Ikea was the first BIG store we went to when we moved to the US and we keep going back again and again!!
I am sure I am going to need your expertise in planning and executing our kitchen makeover. TIA!

Hi vindudev_liny and welcome to IKEAFANS! Funny how we can find all kinds of negative things about those kitchens we want to remodel. Have you been playing with IKEA's kitchen planning software yet ? If so - upload your plan to IKEA and post your info here so that others can see/comment and help you get the best design for your kitchen.

if you haven't already take a look at creating a mission statement - that really helps in understanding what you want - and referring back to it when you're making decisions is helpful too.

Looking forward to seeing your plans and following your progress!

Hi and welcome! Glad you're here.

When you're ready, click on IKEAPedia/Articles http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/articles/
and read the articles:

"I Hate My Kitchen!" I Hate My Kitchen!

"It's Totally Component"
IKEA's Akurum Kitchen System: It's Totally Component!

"The Value of Writing a Mission Statement"

and either "Contractor Woes"

or "Can I Really DIY My Whole Kitchen?.

You might also want to check out the FAQs http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/faqs/ and maybe Tutorials http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/tutorials/

Then download the IKEA planner and play around with it some so you can get your room dimensions, windows, doors and utilities positioned in a plan. The planner is a little tempermental so if you're having problems and can't get it to behave, post about it and someone will help you out,

From there, you can play around with some designs, or post your plan or planner username and password if you want some comments, advice or even a whole design! We're a friendly and helpful bunch who happen to be a little kitchen and a little IKEA obsessed.

If you're into blogging, feel free to start a Blog here as well.

Looking forward to your new adventure!
