Hello, all! I'm so glad to have found this forum--just been here a few days and I've already cribbed many great ideas for our upcoming remodel. We're doing our kitchen in (we think) Ramdala birch. It's only slightly worrying to me that I haven't seen anyone else choosing this style. At any rate, this is a great place, and I'm very happy to be here.
Hi WrenX and welcome to IKEAFANS!!!
Where are you in Northern Ca ? it's a big place ... I'm from Northern Ca too - up near Chico - West Sacramento is my nearest store and its' about 2 hours away.
We're happy you've found us - and are looking forward to seeing/hearing what you're planning to do. If you have your layout in the kitchen planner you can post it here and get others to review it and suggest changes ...
There are lots of TKO people here - so you'll have a place to share all the details and get additional suggestions/advice.
Doreen

one of the reasons you might not be seeing much ramdala is that it was discontinued
how far along are you in your project?
when you get a chance you can take a few moments and fill out your profile, that way we can offer advice and/or chats all the better
Discontinued?!? For heaven's sake! It's still available in our local store (Emeryville), so I had no idea! I guess I'd better get down and actually talk to the kitchen planners, rather than simply open and close all the doors and take copious notes. We liked it because it was solid birch and because the detail on the door will fit in better with our 1927 house than a solid slab-style.
if you can still get the doors you need, more power to you!
emeryville is on occasion a bit slow to label sometimes. they have a HUGE amount of customers coming through.
btw, when you order, if you're doing it in person, avoid yuki at all costs. she's a lovely, very nice ikean, but folks often end up with extra parts or the wrong items (drawer fronts rather than the rationell drawer fronts)
stephanie is my overall favorite, but luis and amy are both very good (just stephanie is good and very nice too)
Thanks for the tips. Actually, I went down to the store last night and discovered that there are so few Ramdala doors left that we'll be picking a different style. It was actually Yuki I spoke with! Thanks for the (already) big help.
Yuki is nice, don't get me wrong, but I will never let her order me anything again. My order of kitchen Ikeans: Steph, Luis (grumpy but good), Amy (sometimes gets herself confused) and then Yuki (who i just won't use).
Chan is the Kitchen general manager. He's quiet and unassuming, but good (takes him a bit for his orders since he doesn't normally do it.)
we have ikeans here that get scoops long before they trickle down to the stores sometimes just rumors, sometimes hard fact. it's a fun place to hang out for those of us who are fanatics and yuki was right, your door should be safe
