Cait - the mm thing makes me laugh. I did a summer abroad as part of my Int'l Studies degree in college. I spent the summer in La Rochelle, France. At the end of the summer, my sister flew over to meet me and travel around. We went to stay with my mom's cousin in the Alps (HELLO!?!?! you have a cousin that has a house in the Alps and this is the first we've heard of her?! WHATEVAH!) and my sister and I went to an outdoor market. There was a vendor selling nougat and we decided to buy some. It was being sold by the gram so say 10 francs for 400 grams.

"400 grams!"I say, "Ali, we couldn't possibly eat that much nougat."

"50 grammes, s'il vous plait,"I say in my very best French.

We couldn't understand the confused look on his face until he handed us half of a 1" square piece of nougat. 400 grams is less than a pound. 50 grams is something less than 2 ounces. Yeah...we split that nougat between the two of us

We still laugh hysterically over that at family dinners.

Hello Aliki!! I hear that Greece is absolutely beautiful. One of my daughter's friends' family is from Greece and they still have a house and family there. Anyway......we would all love to see your ulriksdal kitchen if you can ever get a chance to post pics. And of course a nice pic of the Greece landscape would probably push us over the edge

Welcome,

Laurie

Welcome all!

Hi Cait! Hi Ulrik! Welcome to the forums! Sorry I didn't reply sooner...I didn't catch this post when it rose to the top!

There's a 1000 members thread (although we're at 1200 as of today!), so I'm going to put the seal on this one. If you're reading this, and want to introduce yourself, PLEASE DO!! Come to the 1000 member thread and tell us all about you, your family, your remodel, your hopes, your fears...you know, the usual. If you don't, we'll pry it out of you eventually, anyway .

Susan
