I'm Jean. I first discovered IKEA in Freiburg, Germany, when I was an exchange student 25 years ago!

I am very excited that we'll have an IKEA in Portland very soon. If you want to know exactly how soon (and you use a Mac), you can download the IKEA Portland Countdown Widget I created. It's available on my personal site. Apple has also posted it in their widgets download section.

According to my widget, 34 days and 23 minutes to go. We won't have to drive to Seattle anymore.

They're allowing folks to start camping on the 23rd, two days before opening.

I'm not so sure about 3 days camping at IKEA because you won't have any energy (or patience!!) left to shop!!!

But, it's great to know you will have an IKEA nearby.

Seriously, I don't see myself camping out, but I'm already making plans for what I will buy.
