Does anyone have any experience with Blomberg fridges?
I believe they're new to the US market, so I'm having trouble finding any info on them from people who have experience with them. I'm interested in them because they have a compact, 27" wide, 24" deep model that seems to be quite energy efficient.
Yeah, I saw that... they're beautiful. I've seen them in person, too -- a local high end appliance retailer carries them. But beauty doesn't always a good appliance make.
I know it's a long shot, but I was hoping someone on here actually HAS one and can let me know about repairs, etc. From what I understand, though, they're quite new to the US, so I doubt very many people have them yet -- and especially since they make compact, euro-sized fridges (which is exactly what will fit in my small bungalow kitchen).

Have ou looked at Liebherr? 2 people in my building have them and I am ordering one. it was the only 24"
w
counterdepth with ice maker i could find.
W definition
W is a wall cabinet designation, as in W18, can be a stand-in for Wide, or when followed by a / stands for With.
I've spent hours drooling over them in the appliance store. They're right next to the Blombergs I've been thinking about both the 24 and 30" Liebherrs. They're gorgeous pieces of industrial design. But soooo pricey. There's an 80% chance I'm going to be renting my house out in 4-5 years or so, and I can't justify spending 3-4k on a fridge for my renters. :-/
I've also been thinking about the Vestfrost compact fridge (also sold as Conserv and Summit and Equator). It runs about $1000 and is nearly the same size as the Liebherr, though more space is given to the freezer than in the Liebherr (so less in the fridge).
It's weird that no American companies want to make smaller footprint fridges. There are lots of us who live in tight spaces but want quality appliances.

How much are the Blombergs?
THe 24" Liebherrs are under $3K.....and closer to $2K without icemaker. in fact i'm getting the integrated one which is cheaper than the freestanding stainless ones. Once you go to 30" yeah you'er over $3K... but still less tahn Sub-zero
I considered the Conserv (Liebherr clones) but they don't make ice makers.
Ahh... I don't need (or even want) an icemaker... Without the icemaker, the Liebherr retails for around $2500. I can't remember exactly what the price on the Blomberg was... I'm thinking somewhere right around $2000.
The 30" Liebherr without the icemaker is $3400 or so I believe... plus tax.
Interesting, I hadn't heard of them before! Thanks for sharing that!
Tight spaces are hard to design for- wondering if undercounter refrigerator would be an option? Couple of thoughts- the Blomberg is only 6 cubic feet of refrigerator, which is precisely what a ktichenaid undercounter fridge is...
Buy an undercounter fridge and undercounter freezer from a company whose products you know, for less money
All undercounter gives you a nice clean horizontal line, and more counter space, but takes up storage space
You could stack a fridge and a freezer in a trimmed out frame (my MIL raised an icemaker on a counter high shelf in her butler's pantry) to give you the same look for less
Today, in Seattle, I found two Blomberg refrigerators at Almvig's Appliances in Roosevelt Square (I think--it's where Whole Foods store is). They are very nice looking and I was told they run quiet and the store hasn't had any complaints or requests for repairs. He said they are manufactured in the old Bosch plant in Turkey. There were two models--stainless steel. One was 24 in. wide and 73 in. high, for about $1,700 and the other was 27 inches wide and 75 inches high, for about $2,000. The Liebherr I saw at Albert Lee appliances was $2,800.
I noticed a lot of fingerprints on them. The sales person told me they have a compound that you can put on that protects against fingerprints. He showed me a Dacor fridge that had been treated with it which had been "fingerprint-free for months."
Hope this info is helpful.
I really wanted the Liebherr, but I'm going to save $1,000 and get the Blomberg. Hope this helps.
Yeah... that's where I've seen them. Albert Lee has a medium sized one on display (not the 27wide one)... they're nice looking, though not the stunning pieces of design that the Liebherrs are... but the price is much better. I'm still considering the Vestfrost 24" wide model -- they are quite beautiful (Danish designer), though the space in the refrigerator is so limited. The Blomberg has a few more feet of fridge space, in a narrow design that wouldn't sacrifice too much more counter space.
