Thank you, IF you are referring to our kitchen and the picture I posted.

No matter, I read your reply to my F&P Dishdrawer installation. Sorry to hear about the cooktop mishap. Nothing of the sort happened to me, but I could definitely relate, just thinking about all the things that could have gone wrong, doing the work myself and by myself. Well, I did accidentally drill into the hardwood floor and I blew out the electrical connection to the cooktop (not my fault)...

We don't have a dorm fridge (we make do with a fullsize F&P), but it so happens we have 2 empty undercounter spaces for the pair of 24-inch refrigerator and freezer we plan on buying some day as replacement. My search so far suggests limited options.

Posting other views of our UDDEN kitchen (cooktop shown).

Re: how does a dishwasher fit into the UDDEN kitchen design?

I think I'm going to get an Udden kitchen as several of the responses gave me reassurance that a dishwasher would fit under the console. I just have one question...Without being able to attach the dishwasher to a countertop, does the dishwasher move when the door is opened or when it's turned on?

The UDDEN "consoles" (as IKEA refers to them) have a bracket at each end in the back to anchor them to the wall. That and their weight make them immovable. My F&P Dishdrawer setup secures the dishwasher to the custom cabinet I built for the console and does not move. I can only imagine that a standalone dishwasher would also have to be anchored, either on its own to the wall or to an anchored console. Good luck!

Re: how does a dishwasher fit into the UDDEN kitchen design?

Hello cheeriotf,
You may be able to move the dishwasher if you really tried pulling it out - but it won't move under normal use. A freestanding dishwasher is not normally fixed to the countertop, and an integrated dishwasher is normally only fixed if you have timber or laminate worktops. Everyone with granite, silestone, slate, stainless steel, glass etc worktops will usually not have their dishwasher fixed to the worktop!
It will be snugly fitted between the frame and the cupboard next to it anyway, if you were particularly concerned you could fix to either side, but I don't think it will be necessary unless your floors are particularly slippery! You could always fix after if it ever was a problem. Are you using a freestanding or integrated dishwasher? (either will fit, but freestanding better, as integrated will show bottom as the udden units have no plinth and the doors are shorter than standard 720mm doors which an integrated dishwasher is designed for).

Re: how does a dishwasher fit into the UDDEN kitchen design?

Our Miele does tip forward if the drawers are opened too far with heavy things or if two of them are opened at once. Affixing it to the Udden console is on our list of things we need to do. We've been very happy with the set up.

Re: how does a dishwasher fit into the UDDEN kitchen design?

Thanks everyone for the responses! I want to get an integrated dishwasher, so the tipping forward does concern me somewhat. It looks like I'll have to find a way to attach it to the console as jschwab suggested.
