I've been wondering the same thing! We haven't installed a dishwasher yet, but at some point we will...and we'll have to deal with this same issue.

If you have the dishwasher in the middle of a run (i.e., two UDDEN units side by side with the dishwasher in the middle), you don't have a problem...or you could have the dishwasher at the end of the run if that unit butts up against a wall.

Here are some photos I found on a random website that show a dishwasher installed in an UDDEN kitchen:

In my kitchen, the dishwasher would have to be next to the range, which has about 4" between it and the UDDEN unit to its right. The side of the dishwasher will be somewhat visible, so we'll probably have to look into building some sort of cover panel to attach to the side of the unit.

you can attach a panel and use chalkboard paint or magnetic paint on the panel. we are thinking about doing something like that somewhere else in our kitchen

Wow, the canisters they use in that episode are just what I was looking for, but they're not listed in the resources list. Anyone know where to find glass canisters like that?

hi caco! Welcome to the forums!

I don't know where they got theirs (thanks for that link, saab2208! And welcome to you as well!), but I found some similar (although they're round, not square) gallon-sized on www.specialtybottle.com. The company has a good reputation, and the prices are fair. Google "glass jars with lids" and you'll get a bunch.

I'm planning to fit a dishwasher (and oven and cooktop) into an Udden kitchen too, so it's good to see the photos that Anna posted.

But is that a length of hose sticking out from under the sink bench? I can't work out if it's unresolved plumbing or a kids tennis racqet.

I'm in the process of putting in an Udden kitchen and am also struggling with the dishwasher issue. It's unclear from the two pics how the dishwashers were attached since normally they are bolted into the underside of the counter but obviously we don't want to ruin the stainless steel top. Is encasing the dishwasher in a melamine dishwasher base cabinet and then setting it under the counter a possible solution? Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks!!

Am I missing something here? Why not just use a free-standing DW?
