I have a bosch- now three years old, and I do truly love the cleaning and the quiet operation, in addition to the hidden controls. My mother also bought one based on my experience and has been very pleased. A great machine.

We sort of backed into our Bosch because it was on sale, and with the Consumer Reports in hand and the glowing reviews on this site, we went for it. I really like ours, but I can only vouch for about 2-weeks worth of operation! It's not the top of the line one, but it is still very quiet. We have a kitchen that is now open to the living area. With the dishwasher running, we can easily have conversations and hear our music/tv with no problem. Most importantly, the dishes come out clean!
I've had my bosch dishwasher for several years now. I bought it at Sears -I have one of the lower end bosch models. It works really well and is extremely quiet - which is what I love about it. It does have a long wash cycle like Kathy mentioned - the regular wash takes close to 2 hours to complete.

How difficult is it to clean the food trap in the Bosch DWs? I like that they are quiet because they don't have a grinder, but I may be willing to give up the quiet operation if clearing the trap is horrendous...
well, I 've had mine for three years and not cleaned the trap yet- no bad smells, poor drainage etc to indicate there's a problem. I suppose it's how you use them- if you tend to be a thorough rinser, probably not a problem. If you feel the dishwasher should do your dirty work for you, perhaps the Bosch can't handle it- but again it's working well one- two full loads a day for three years.
I never actually cleaned the trap in the 3 years or so we had ours before moving. I scrapped and kind of rinsed before loading, but was far from meticulous.
