Hi all - Has anyone purchased a Smeg cooktop? I just love the looks of them but am a little nervous since I can't find any reviews and don't know anyone that's familiar with the brand as they are used primarily in Europe. Appreciate any insights you might have.

There is a store in Coral Gables, FL that has a lot of SMEG cooktops and ovens on display. I was there a few months ago, and they all looked great, and I was quite excited to see all the choices they had. However, for some reason all the models they sell were for export only, to be shipped outside the USA! The sales person explained that they were not yet US approved, whatever that means.

The SMEG USA site shows 2 ovens and 3 cooktops now, and I am sure they're very new, thus the lack of reviews.

I went through the same experience buying Fagor. No reviews anywhere, but the size and look were exactly what I needed. Very established brand in Europe, almost unknown in North America.

Ah ha! Well that does explain things. Thanks Miami. I read a bit more and found out they are a sub-brand of Bertoluzzi so that sounds a bit better, they are just too nifty for words - the cooktops that is.
