Hi!

Not sure this is the right place to ask this question, please let me know if it's not.

I'm planning to buy new cook stove for my new kitchen, but wondering between Slide-In Stove vs Stand Alone style.

I really like Slide-In style so far. However, it's a lot expensive than Stand Alone style, and I'm the person easily get distracted while cooking, and have boiled water spilled out from my pan quite often... I'm a little worried if Slide-In style doesn't have lip to stop these water and I'll have to clean the countertop besides stove top everytime...

I'm wondering if it's worth to pay extra $500 to get Slide-In Stove.

If you have Slide-In style and have any comments on it, please share with me!

Thanks,
-kuma

The slide in is cool in that it sits flush with the countertop. You do need to have a bit of space behind it so it isn't directly on the wall. The sides are not finished, either, as in a standalone.

I think that the glasstop ranges will all have that spill issue, they're all flat like that.

The advantage that I see to the slide-in is that the controls are on the front vs. behind the burners for a stand-alone electric stove. I dislike having to reach over hot pots to use the controls. That said...I wouldn't be willing to pay $500 more for this feature (then again, I'm cheap! er thrifty!). I did once find a stand alone that had the controls on the front...but I couldn't locate one for the glass-top electric this time.

Thanks for your replies! Sorry I couldn't write you sooner.

I decided to go for slide-in stove from GE. JSP42 series.

If any of you has this one and have any positive/negative comments/feedback, I would love to hear!

Thanks!
