Help with my poll, I need to borrow some taste!!

Hi, me again,

What's everyone doing with this department? I got these nifty little lansa 9" handles. I'm currently ready to "handle" my laundry room (over the w & d). In the catalog, most of the long handles are mounted horizontally, how is that working for everyone? I only have 2 wall cabinets in my kitchen (and they have glass). The rest is pull-out pantrys and such (which I will mount horizontally). Can anyone help me? I have no taste.

Info:

Adel cabinets (birch)

Lansa handles, 9"

me-nuts!

Also, to mount them all in the same place, I saw a thread about making a wood cutout of some kind, anyone remember that thread?

Thanks for ALL your help! Without you guys, I'd STILL be waiting for the cabinet guy who took my dimensions TWO MONTHS AGO to call me back with an estimate!

I did all my drawers and wall cabs horizontal, and base cabs with doors vertical. Be careful if you're doing a horizontal on a cabinet next to a wall, you need more clearance than with a knob or you might not be able to open the door completely!

I tried to borrow some taste from Susan but was left dangling in the wind to vote on my own...

Apparently I don't agree with anyone else... ::shrug::

Yes, Eva, that makes perfect sense, thanks! I have a small piece of filler by the only cabinet going to the wall, so I think it should open fine no matter which way it's mounted (notice I said "should" trying not to use the word "assume", so now I have to measure and see), now I only have to decide which way to mount it! I constantly have to borrow taste (and rational thinking), so Keep it coming! Thanks!

I put all of mine horizontal. I really like the way it looks. I was originally planning to do the wall cabinets vertical, but in the end, decided it looked great with them all running the same way.

Hi KitchenMom,

When you did them all horizontally, did you center them on the cabinets or put them close to the direction they open or what? Not sure what the common school is on that!

Oops - I take it back. Now that I'm home, I am reminded that we put them vertically on the base cabinet doors, horizontally everywhere else. For the horizontal handles on the wall cabinets and pull-out pantries, we centered them on the door. Here's a picture that shows a representative sampling:

Wow! That's beautiful! Is it Nexus?

One more quick question...WHERE DID YOU GET THAT CANOPY EXHAUST FAN? I've been looking for one I can "modify" to only 24" for my peninsula and yours looks awesome (even though I have no perception for how high your ceiling is)!

Thanks Kitchenmom!

Thanks. Yes, it's Nexus Birch. That picture doesn't show the full hood. It is the Zephyr Milano with 42" glass canopy. Our ceilings are just shy of eight feet. The hood hangs down about 27" from the ceiling. Here's another pic of the whole thing:
